Presbyterian Women

The mission of Presbyterian Women “is to come together as a caring community to strengthen and witness to God’s Kingdom”. PW offers activities that fulfill a need for study and fellowship, and enrich lives by using time, talents, and treasures to support local and church-wide missions. Contact Marilyn Enger for more details about any of the below activities: 503-662-4240

Study and Fellowship

Four Circle groups meet once a month during the school year for fellowship and study.

  • Agape Circle meets the third Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in members’ homes.
  • Shalom Circle meets the third Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the Whitman Room
  • Priscilla Circle meets the fourth Monday of each month in the evening in members’ homes.
  • Sarah Circle meets the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Whitman Room.

Fund Raisers

In March, PW holds its annual Rummage Sale. Women, men and youth help make this a succesful event. The total receipts received in 2006 were $7,300. August Tea, at the Wittenbergy’s home, benefits a local medical mission. In 2005, close to $1,000 was raised for the Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation.

Our Mission Giving

Funds from the annual Rummage Sale, along with Second-Mile Giving, funded these mission projects:
General Assembly Mission
Cascade Presbytery Mission
Mexico Mission
St. Barnabas Soup Kitchen
Juliette’s House
Youth Scholarship
Henderson House
Casa
Abacus

Special Offerings

The following funds benefit women in the U.S. and underdeveloped countries: Thank Offering, Birthday Offering, and Fellowship of the Least Coin.

Fellowship

Three “Ladies’ Night Out” events are held at local restaurants throughout the year. Church women have an opportunity to relax and visit while someone else cooks dinner. Three “Traveling Coffee Hour” events are held at local Snior Facilities. This outreach enables men and women who can’t come to church an opportunity to socialize with church members.

May Banquet

This is a catered banquet for women of all ages, served by our men and boys. After dinner is a program with live entertainment.

Quilt and Knitting Projects

On the first Wednesday of each month, several ladies work together to make quilts and sweaters. Quilts are donated to Bear Hugs, Juliette’s House, Habitat for Humanit, and The Salvation Army. The word has spread! PW women and friends knitted 285 sweaters in 2005-06, most going to Northwest Medical Teams.
