Mission Projects

  • Community Dinner, a free meal served every Saturday, serving over 4,000 guests and nearly 5,000 meals per year 
  • CROP Hunger Walk through Church World Service, May 2014
  • Run, Walk and Ride for Habitat for Humanity, June 2014
  • Holy Smokes Cook-Off Barbeque, on the First Presbyterian Church campus, September 2016
  • CWISH First Presbyterian Church serves with a rotation of churches to provide cold weather shelter for the homeless on nights that are 32 degrees or less.
  • Operation Christmas Child, providing gift-filled shoeboxes to children all over the world, donating 79 shoeboxes this season
  • Angel Tree Prison Ministry, providing gifts to the children of prisoners on their behalf, serving upwards of 30 children a year

 

Missions Financial Support

Historically, the church has made a significant commitment to provide financial resources for mission programs. In its annual budget each year the church tithes approximately ten percent of its income for mission.  In 2012, the mission giving was dispersed to the following:

Presbyterian Partnership Giving (PCUSA)
IMCK/Good Shepherd Hospital in DR of Congo
Juliette’s House, child abuse intervention center
Gospel Rescue Mission for the homeless
Community Compassion Fund, providing compassion and assistance to people in our community who are in crisis
Habitat for Humanity
World Mission Outreach this year to “To Haiti With Love”

Additional resources were realized through special offerings and endowment funds designated to mission.

  • Presbyterian Women of the Cascades ($350)
  • Presbyterian Women of the Church Worldwide ($350)

Children’s Sunday School Offering donated $43.84 for the purchase of chicks through Heifer International. In recognition and appreciation of all the teachers a donation of $100 was also made to Heifer International.

New This Year:The Mission Team organized a well-supported “sorting” day at the YCAP Food Bank, a maintenance service project at Henderson House, and contributed to the Gas Voucher Program at First Baptist Church.
