Our current Children’s Programs are being modified to keep everyone safe and healthy during the pandemic.
Sunday Mornings at First Presbyterian
Nursery
- Sundays 9:30-11:30 am
- Birth -4 years old
Our Nursery is a favorite place for our children. It is a safe, well equipped space intended for children birth to 4 years old. The bright space offers age appropriate toys and activities for our youngest children. As well as loving nursery workers with the training and certifications to best care for children. Children are welcome to start each Sunday in the nursery or begin in worship and ease their way to the nursery as needed.
Worship
- Sundays 10:30 – 11:30 am
- All Ages
Worship is a vital time for our whole community to come together. We welcome and encourage people of ALL ages and stages to join us for worship. We are more complete when we are all together. There are blue bags and sticker books for children (or children at heart) to take at the entrance to the Sanctuary.
We are also continually looking for new ways to creatively engage and involve children and youth in worship. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please send Kate an email.
Children’s Time
- Sundays during worship (with the exception of the first Sunday of each month)
- PreK-5th Grade
We invite children to gather for a story and lesson on Sunday mornings. Children go to worship with their family in the Sanctuary and will be excused for Children’s Time. We feel it is important for families to worship together, but understand the benefits of age specific learning. Children’s Time is a welcoming environment that uses a variety of learning styles to engage learners.
Our Children’s Programing – Children’s Time and Kidventure – follow a three year curriculum rotation. Year 1: Old Testament, Year 2: New Testament – Gospels, Year 3: New Testament – Acts to Revelation. Children learn and engage with the whole Bible while creating repetition in learning as they grow, mature, and engage with scripture in different ways.
Children’s Library
Tucked away under the glow of beautiful stained glass windows is our children’s library. Follow the ramp up behind the Sanctuary and cuddle up and read in the big white chair. Children will find beloved books that share Biblical stories, address life experiences, and involve whimsical characters. The library is a great place to explore and still hear worship if sitting becomes a bit too difficult on Sunday mornings. Parents will also find great resources to explore.
Our children’s library is a new addition to the First Presbyterian Church library. Children in our church (many generations of children) have beloved memories of receiving books from Rosemary Ramsey. Rosemary was a member of FPC who would send children a book on their birthday each year. Rosemary’s love for books and the children of our congregation lives on through a memorial fund that was set up in her honor. Our children’s library is constantly growing thanks to the memorial funds that allow us to purchase new books.
Kidventure
Kidventure is the place to be! Join us on Tuesdays for an evening catered to kids. We gather and work our energy out with games. We sing and dance with Mr. Bob. We share about our day while eating a delicious dinner. We hear an engaging Godly Play story. We creatively reinforce the story. And we can’t wait till the next Kidventure to do it all again. Kidventure is curated for our Pre-K to 1st graders and our 2nd to 5th graders. We welcome children from the whole community, everyone is invited.
